According to researchers at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, the two found in human milk and yogurt to reduce children’s risk of developing diarrhea in 78% “good” bacteria. Major cause of infant mortality of acute diarrhea and diarrhea incidence, U.S. hospitals are a major problem for nurseries and developing countries, the researchers said. The disease can be prevented by adding bacteria to food that children eat every day simply, the researchers said.

Researchers led by Jose Saavedra at Johns Hopkins, the two bacteria, Bacillus bifidus Bifodbacterium (often found in breast milk) and Streptococcus thermophilus (found in fermented milk products like yogurt) and sick infants infant formula food. Another group of children received the same formula without bacteria.
